Fossil fuel subsidies

Governments of the G20 rich countries are subsidising the exploration for fossil fuels with 88 billion USD which is far more than the 37 billion USD invested in exploration that the private corporations are spending to expand their resource extraction and subsequent profits.  This use of public funds is questioned in a blog by Jeremy Williams which contains links to more detailed sources.
