Richard Heinberg (2015) Afterburn: Society beyond fossil fuels

Richard Heinberg is the author of twelve books including ‘The Party’s Over’, ‘The End of Growth’, and ‘Snake Oil’. He is Senior Fellow-in-Residence of Post Carbon Institute.

Heinberg is interviewed about his new book (April 2015) in this link to the Resilience website. The book brings together much of his thinking about the scale of fossil fuel use in what he terms “The Great Burning” – the few decades in which exploitation of cheap fossil fuels (oil, natural gas, coal) has led to a major transition of our  species and unintended consequences for the planet.

This link is to an article by Heinberg on the theme of his book – he asks:

How shall we manage the last days of the Great Burning? And what will come next? These are quite literally the most important questions our species has ever faced.
