Negative GHG emissions?

The Paris Climate Agreement’s good intentions to restrict averaged global warming to less that 2 degrees Celsius cannot be achieved without massive extraction of greenhouse gases from the atmosphere -so-called ‘negative emissions’. This article demonstrates why his is so and how impossibly difficult this would be given the current situation. Current pledges made (without any guarantee of implementation) at the Paris event would likely lead to 2.7C warming by 2100 . Negative emissions, given the current state of such technologies, would best be achieved by planting vast new forests but this would have to be done on land currently under agriculture. Not an encouraging scenario!
